Gardening is a very green hobby and brings pleasure to millions of homeowners through out the country. There are a number of easy steps which you can take to get the most out of your garden. Firstly you can try and become more self sufficient by growing your own fruit and vegetables. As well as being very satisfying this is a much more environmentally friendly option to driving to the supermarket a few times a week.
When gardening try and garden using sustainable methods by recycling green garden waste in piles of compost which can then be turned back into the garden to help maintain furtile and healthy soil conditions. If you need to use pesticides and fertilizers in your garden make sure that you use organic alternatives which are just as effective and do not harm resident wildlife.
As well as saving you money installing a water butt will allow you to collect chemical free rain water for use in your garden.
Think carefully about what you are actually planting in the garden. Natural and indigenous plants are more attractive to local wildlife as well as having a greater resistance to disease than non native species.

Wildlife can be defined as all those non-domesticated plants, animals and other organisms. From time immemorial man has been engaging in domesticating wildlife. It can be said that most of the domesticated animals and plants that we see today were once wild in nature. The reason for domestication of wildlife by mankind can be rightfully said to be food, medicines and petting. Initial domestication and further evolution made them as what we see them today. Wildlife is not constrained to any particular terrain or ecosystem. They are found in deserts, rain forests, plains, poles or rather everywhere. |
