Plant care and ground care can be considered as the most important aspects of gardening as well as agriculture. The plants that we cultivate as well the soil in which they are cultivated are equally important and the lack of quality in any one of these may have a lasting effect on your results. In many cases we can see that, though we spent lot of time and money in buying high quality saplings or seeds, the final productivity is reduced due to the lack of proper soil treatment. Natural soil has lot of substances in it that are highly beneficial for the plants that grow over them, however it should also be understood that the nutrients available in the soil gets depleted from continuous use. This gives rise to the need of replenishing the soil for further cultivation. Soil replenishing as a process happens naturally, but might take many years which is not beneficial for man, which means that artificial means are inevitable for making the soil nutrient rich.
There are farmers who follow the practice of crop rotation which gives ample time for natural soil replenishment. This system is a traditional one in which two or more plants or trees are cultivated alternately. This idea is based on the fact that different plants need different nutrients from the soil. So by alternating between plants that do not use up similar nutrients, the planter can ensure that the soil is replenished naturally. In all other cases, man has to rely on synthetic or natural manures, which are applied on a timely basis so that the soil nutrient content is steadily maintained.
