The CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme (formerly known as the Carbon Reduction Commitment) comes into force on 1 April 2010. It is a mandatory scheme aimed at forcing the private and public sectors to become more energy efficient. The scheme imposes personal responsibility on directors and contains civil and criminal penalties for non-compliance.
