Solar Energy
Solar Panels harvest energy from the sun. The term solar panels encompass two types of energy production, namely solar electricity and solar thermal. Solar electricity is generated from correct positioning of solar cells (or for the technical name, photovoltaic cells) to maximise the amount of energy from the sun which can be converted into electricity and can be used to power your home.
Photovoltaic systems
Solar cells are used to convert sunlight straight into electrucity. Solar cells are constructed from semiconducting material which absorb sunlight and generate electricity by a process called the photovoltaic effect.
Solar water heating systems have two main components, namely the solar collector and the storage tank. The collector is usually a rood mounted and has small tubes which run through it carrying either water or another fluid to be heated. The tubes are connected to the black absorber plate which heats the fluid as it passed through the tubes. The storage tank will hold the heated liquid and is very well insulated to preserve the temperature of the water.

Solar is the energy which we get from the heat and light radiated from the sun to earth. Solar energy is one of the most renewable sources of energy which helps in preserving the other different natural resources like water, fossils and vegetations. The use of solar energy basically requires photovoltaic cells and panels, pumps and fans to convert the light energy from the sun light into useful energy. These solar panels are required to be kept in open air where they can receive and absorb the maximum solar energy. These solar panels thus by absorbing the light and heat energy from the sun produce sufficient energy to charge the photovoltaic cells. These cells thus provide sufficient energy to light on the bulbs and other electric and electronic devices. Let us go through the various applications of solar energy. The major application of solar energy is the solar lighting system. Other applications are water heating, water treatment and cooking, heating, cooling, ventilation. The solar energy also has applications in agricultural and horticultural purposes.
There are also vehicle which do not need any bio fuels and easily work on solar energy. The main example of using the solar energy in agricultural and horticultural activities is the green house which converts the solar light into heat which is required for the growth of specific crops and plants in a particular environment. The solar lighting system can easily light the bulbs and florescent lamps for a longer period and can save electric power by twenty five percent. Nowadays solar energy is implemented for street lights. The solar water heating system can be used to heat water upto 60 degree Celsius. Solar water treatment is used to wipe out the harmful disinfectants present in the water.
