Wind
Wind turbines are fitted either to your roof or a mast and convert wind power into electricity which can be used in your home. There are 2 different systems used by wind turbines. Systems that are not connected to the national grid generate a direct current which is then stored in a battery and converted to mains electricity (alternating current) to be used around your property. Alternatively a wind turbines system can be hooked up directly to the national grid via an inverter which converts direct current to alternating current of a standard accepted by the grid. Electricity which you do not use will then be sold to your local energy supplier.

The wind energy is one of the renewable sources of energy which is applicable in different streams. Wind energy is mainly concerned with conversion of wind energy into usable source of energy. Many countries have been adopting the wind energy to produce electricity. Still many countries have been adopting and implementing the source of energy from wind. Many wind farms are being built on provide electricity to the rural areas. Some wind farms are connected to the power substations to provide surplus amount of electricity without any low voltage problems. The electricity generated by the wind turbines are distributed at high voltages to substations with the help of transformers. The wind energy is extremely clean and pollution free source of energy. This method does not emit any sort of carbon contents which cause air pollution.
Wind energy is produced from wind mills which consist of many multiple blade wind turbines. The major parts of the wind mills are the gearbox, rotor shaft and break assembly. The wind rotates the blades of the wind turbine which is coupled to the alternators which hence convert the wind energy into electric energy. Though the installation cost of the wind mills is very high, they are beneficial in the future in saving power as well as the economic costs of the country. But the installation costs are very low as compared to building up of hydro electric power plants. Though these wind mills are very dangerous to birds and cattle but they do less harm as compared to the harmful bio fuels power generating stations. The power generated by these wind mills does not remain constant. Sometimes the power generated will be high and sometimes low. It mainly depends on the intensity of wind each hour, daily and annually.
