Trains
One of the easiest ways an individual can begin to cut their carbon footprint is to take the train, especially as an alternative to flying. Travelling by train is very convenient and quick and is a great way to travel around both the UK and Europe both for holidays and work. Putting the environmental credential aside, traveling by train allows you to see much more of an area or country which you would bypass if flying. As the advert says….let the train take the strain!

The green trains mainly refer to the electric locomotives which does not use combustible fuels. The green trains are the trains which work on electricity. Since these trains do not use any fuels they do not cause any sort of air pollution. These trains are ecologically safe. They mainly require electric current supply and electric engines for their operation. The electric locomotives have many advantages as compared to the diesel locomotives. These engines have better features like the regenerative breaking systems which help in reducing the speed of the train and on the other hand store the kinetic energy. This stored energy is supplied back into the supply system thus this regenerative breaking helps in saving power as well as other natural resources. The green trains i.e. the electric trains have higher efficiency of about 90 percent and above. They are well known for their effective and efficient performance.
The green trains have more starting torques and speed as compared to the diesel version of engines. Since the green train engines do not have more mechanical parts the noise created by them is extremely low as compared to the diesel engines. They also do not have any sort of exhausts and are extremely the best source of controlling air pollution because it does not emit any sort of carbon contaminants. Since the noise produced by them is also low, they also help in controlling noise pollution. Almost all the countries are increasing the number of green trains in order to save the earth from existing pollution as well as for their best performance and efficiency. These trains can work both on alternating and direct current. But with the improvement in science technology mostly the direct current system is being used.
