Septic Tanks

Septic tanks with partial biological processes are used to extract floating and removable substances. Due to the sizing of 1500 litres per inhabitant, the wastewater passes through the system in approximately 10 days. This allows the microorganisms that have emerged in the sludge to effect partial breakdown of the organic waste,
In addition to pure mechanical purification (partial biological purification). These septic tanks require 1500 litres per inhabitant and must comprise at least 3 chambers
Floating and removable material is extracted from domestic wastewater in mechanical septic tanks. This is pure mechanical cleaning, for which you need 500 litres of capacity per inhabitant. If you assume a volume of 150 litres, the wastewater passes through the system in 3 days. These septic tanks must have a total volume of at least 2000 litres. A 2000 litre system is sufficient for 4 inhabitants, another 500 litres, must be incorporated for each additional inhabitant.

Septic tanks are the tanks which are the storage tanks of sewage wastes and disposals without any openings into the atmosphere. Septic tanks are one of the major requirements of a hygienic and clean sewage system. These tanks help in controlling air and water pollution. If required the wastes from the septic tanks can be used to make bio fuels as well as bio gas. The septic tanks are connected through different sewage pipes in the locality or in the home itself. The septic tanks have large storage capacity of about four thousand to eight thousand litres capacity. The septic mainly consists of an inlet valve or pipe through which all the sewage wastes are fed into the tank. It also has a covering somewhere in the middle of the tank. This covering is called the manhole. The manhole is capable of being opened which help in cleaning and maintenance of the septic tank.
The septic tank consists of two sections. The sewage waste first enters into the first section or chamber and allows the solid wastes to settle down and the liquid wastes to float. With the passage of time the solid wastes get anaerobically dissolved or eliminated. Thus the liquid wastes easily flow into second section or chamber through the separating wall. The remaining and the left out wastes are eliminated by slow evaporation process or absorbed by the roots of the plants. The basic requirements of a septic tank are that it should be totally odour free without periodic inspection and maintenance and should have a life of up to decades. It should be capable self anaerobic digestion otherwise the waste will get discharged or overflowed thus polluting the surrounding environment.
